I got "around" this problem by setting my PS5 to install PS4 games to the external drive and making sure my external drive doesn't have enough free space to install the PS4 version of Valhalla. It is a really dumb work around but this is the only cross-gen game I currently own so well, it works for now. This worked, but the game icon sitting in my Home Screen will switch over to the PS4 version and ask me to download it pretty frequently, even though the PS5 version is already on my system.
